Helena Rasiowa – the most outstanding Polish mathematician, co-creator of the Rasiowa-Sikorski theoretical axiom used in the set theory. As a professor at the University of Warsaw, Rasiowa dealt with logic, algebra, set theory and theoretical computer science. She lectured and was the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science at the University of Warsaw. Helena also has a great contribution to the development of works on the use of mathematical logic in computer science. Already 40 years ago, she predicted that many IT problems can be solved with methods developed in logic. She “raised” many outstanding mathematicians who, thanks to her, began to apply algebraic methods in research on logical systems. Author of the book “Introduction to contemporary mathematics” studied by successive generations of scientists.
